Lifeguard Training Class
Next Class: Begins: Winter Break, 2024
This course focuses on the job of a lifeguard in a swimming pool environment. Course will emphasize victim recognition, patron surveillance and equipment-based rescues, First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
Participants will be required to pass a swimming skills test;
If you are unable to demonstrate these skills you will not be able to continue in the class. Practice beforehand is highly recommended.
You will need to bring your “American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Participant’s Manual” to class. Manual pick up is available the first day of class, from Angela.
On time attendance at all class and water sessions is required for successful course completion. Please bring a sack lunch, snacks, towels, suit (one piece for girls), and dry clothes to class. No cell phones in class.
Lifeguard Review Class
Next Class: Begins: Winter Break, 2024
The purpose of the Lifeguard Review course is to give individuals the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and skill competency outside a full course setting. You must be currently certified to take this class (or have been certified in the recent past) and bring proof of certification to class. All skills will be tested.
Participants will be required to pass a swimming skills test;
If you are unable to demonstrate these skills you will not be able to continue in the class. Practice beforehand is highly recommended.
Items covered include: rescue skills, CPR/AED for the professional rescuer skills, caring for head, neck or back injury skills, first aid skills, final skill scenarios.
You will need to bring the current “American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Participant’s Manual” to class. If you need to purchase a current book, please let Angela know.

Lifeguard Prerequisite Swim Skills Test:
REQUIRED FOR ALL LIFEGUARD CLASSES
- Swim 300 yards (12 lengths of the pool) continuously the following strokes in this order: using freestyle for 100 yards (4 lengths with a rhythmic breathing pattern), breaststroke for 100 yards (4 lengths with a pull, breath, kick, glide sequence), and 100 yards (4 lengths) of either freestyle or breaststroke.
- Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using freestyle or breaststroke, head first surface dive 7-10 feet deep retrieve a diving brick, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the brick in both hands, place the object on the deck, and exit the pool without using ladder or steps.
- Tread water for two minutes using your legs only.

To register in a Lifeguard Training or Lifeguard Review class, please complete the following form and return it to Angela by email at swimmeracb@yahoo.com. Payments accepted by mail, address provided upon registration submission
Cancellation Policy
In order to give a partial refund, we must receive registration cancellation requests 7 days prior to the start of the event. No refunds will be given after class has begun. A $15 processing fee will be charged for any registrant initiated cancellation. If you are unable to attend, please be courteous and cancel your registration early to allow others the opportunity to attend.
